About the teams
The Legal and Professional Services Division provides expert legal, taxation, financial planning, and genealogy services to customers across the entire agency.
The Benefits Unit which is within the Financial Planning Unit ensures:
- Customer’s receive pension income and concessions, where entitled
- When there is a change in the customer’s circumstances, ensure pension income and concessions are reviewed and Services Australia is updated accordingly
- Undertakes annual review of each customer’s circumstances to ensure correct information is held by providers and correct pension income and concessions are received and;
- Maintains regular contact with providers to ensure appropriate processes and systems are in place to address issues as they arise.
About the role
Responsible for providing high quality advice to NSW Trustee and Guardian and its customers, ensuring benefits and personal insurance services are high quality, timely, effective and customer focused.
As a Senior Benefits and Personal Insurances Officer, you will:
- Deliver Services: Ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and timely personal insurances and benefits services, compliant with legislation and best practices.
- Resolve Issues: Provide expert advice on complex matters and significant complaints, maintaining and enhancing NSW Trustee and Guardian’s reputation.
- Process Claims: Manage private health and Medicare accounts and receipts, ensuring timely and accurate claims processing.

About you
The ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience in managing and advising on personal insurance policies.
- In-depth understanding of superannuation systems and regulations.
- Experience in handling child support cases and claims.
- Proficiency in processing and advising on health care claims.
- Knowledge of various government benefits and how to access them.
- Strong customer-focused approach, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, actionable advice.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective client interactions.
- Familiarity with NSW government operations and the services provided by NSW Trustee and Guardian.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve client issues effectively.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and meet deadlines.
